Case study · AutoCAD

Pick two points, get the whole locker room.

For a steel locker and mesh partition manufacturer: the designer picks two points, and the plug-in draws the panels, posts, doors and roofs, then exports the bill of materials.

Before

A locker room is made of dozens of standard panels, posts and doors. Drawing them one by one, then counting them for the bill of materials, took days per quote, and re-entering won quotes for production caused errors.

What we built

  • One-letter commands for walls, doors, roofs and shelves, with a live preview
  • Automatic split into standard panels, with posts placed for you
  • Options edited in a palette: door swing, hasps, base plates
  • Bill of materials and post report exported to Excel, for the whole drawing or a selection

Results

  • Quotes in hours instead of days
  • Panels and posts counted from the drawing, not by hand
  • Accepted quotes sent straight to production
